Department of Materials Science was established in 1996 as a part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics of Rzeszów University of Technology. The activities of the unit are related to the broadly understood materials science and metallurgy. The Department consists of 33 employees, including 9 professors, 13 lecturers and senior lecturers, 2 assistants and 9 engineering and technical employees.
The Department is equipped with modern research devices in the field of:
- light microscopy (digital image analysis),
- scanning and transmission electron microscopy (EDS analysis),
- phase and chemical composition,
- thermal analysis,
- mechanical testing,
- thermodynamics of alloys.
